TotalControl is our own unique system of operational controls, designed to put IT management and the businesses we serve, in control of results.

If a lack of effective IT controls is the problem, TotalControl is the solution. IP Services knows that if we’re not in total control, downtime is imminent. TotalControl ensures availability for the clients we serve.

TotalControl is a quality control system. It is formally implemented for each and every process involved in delivering IT to our customers. TotalControl is the end result of applying IT management best practices theory to real-world mission-critical IT requirements. TotalControl is based on the firm belief that IT management is a science and that predictable results can only be obtained when all of the environmental variables are fully understood and controlled. Control doesn’t just happen. It requires a firm commitment to planning, monitoring and ongoing improvement.

The diagram above illustrates many of the key elements of TotalControl, which includes, but is much more than a set of internal control loops designed to ensure that service levels meet IP Service’s standards. The TotalControl process starts with the development of a service strategy that is optimized to support your business objectives. The TotalControl system then continues through the service design and service transition processes and into the production operations environment. Once in operation, each service activity is closely monitored and compared with the “normal” service level as defined by the service level agreement. The results are fed through our service improvement process which ensures that deviations from the agreed service norms are addressed. Improvements may be addressed by modifying the service management processes, the service design, or sometimes the service strategy. TotalControl is derived from years of experience and science through integrating ITIL, VisibleOps, InterChange, SLM plans, SLAs, operational guides, run books, customized tooling, detective controls, monitoring systems, and more (see diagram).

So that is TotalControl and that is the IP Services difference, the “secret” to our success, our operational “Kung-Fu”.

We realize that marketing literature is usually impossible for the customer to verify. But because we are serious about our commitment to quality, we voluntarily have our operational control system activities externally audited annually. IP Services has a long history of successful SAS70 audits. These audits cover everything from high level management controls to detailed control loops for each operational activity. As a result, when we say “we do what we say we do”, our customers don’t have to just take our word for it, they have access to the independent auditor’s conclusions as well.
